Depends if you are looking for beach or mountains - Sedona is wonderful......Hawaii is another great one.....there is also Napa Valley or Monterrey or Carmel in California

Look, my idea of romantic is to take my wife to a high altitude place that is nice and dark so we can watch the stars and be romantic. You must be able to see the Milky Way in all its glory for it to be really romantic.  Here are a few of the best places I've found:  Crater Lake in Oregon, Haaleakala and Mona Loa in Hawaii, Norris Guyser Basin in Yellowstone (lots of other places there too),  Mt. Davis and El Capitan and Guadalupe Mts in Texas, Mt. Washington, Pikes Peak, Sandia Peak nr. Albuquerque , Capulin Mtn. in eastern NM, and the Grand Tetons in WY.

There are many more, but when you are finished with these ask the question again and I will add some more.

Most of the places in California are very romantic, especially the beaches, Sacramento, San Francisco(nowadays its not that romantic anymore), and San Diego, oh and Santa Barbara. Oregon is also romantic in the summer. Pretty much all of Florida is lovely as well
