  1. On a clear day, go to Twin Peaks at sunset. During the day, Point Bonita in Marin. Or take Route 35 south from Route 92 till you get to the top of the first rise for a simultaneous view of the ocean, the Bay, and the Crystal Springs Lakes (as well as the surrounding countryside.)

  2. I think that Fishermans Wharf is a nice place to site see. It' free, you walk around and see all the shops and eateries. You can buy a loaf of sourdough bread and an inexpensive wine and enjoy the  scenery. This stuff won't cost you much. Hope this helps, chef Paul

  3. Pack a picnic lunch  and go to Marin French cheese Factroy in West Marin.  They have a pond with geese picnic tables, and a deli to get anything you forgot.  You can also take a tour of the cheese factory (that part would not be romantic), and sample their various brie cheeses.

You can also do a picnic at Baker Beach or the Marin Headlands (assuming no fog), or Stow Lake in GG Park--a pedal boat ride would be nice, and not too expensive, or hike into muir woods.

You can also go to some of the wineries in sonoma or napa.  The wine tasting is free or $5, most have quiet areas for picnicking or walking.

  4. idk? san francisco at night?

    berkely hills, tilden park?

  5. -Walking the Golden Gate Bridge

-Walking in the Presidio (possibly get a drink at one of the many restaurants scattered throughout)

-Sit on the steps near Aquatic Park

-Get a drink at one of the restaurants with a killer view (Top of the Mark, Cliff House, etc...)

-Take a ferry ride to Angel Island or Sausalito for great city views

-Take a ferry to Alameda and walk to the Naval Air Base and go to Hangar One Vodka (for $5 vodka tastings- get to taste a variety of different types of vodka, liquors, and whiskeys) (Has a killer view of S.F.)

-Get a great deli lunch (to go) in North Beach and walk down to the Washington Square Park and have a picnic

-Golden Gate Park is always popular

    -Japanese Tea Gardens

  6. About 10 years ago they closed the Presidio as a military base. It should now be open to the public. As long as you can access that, this is a great place to walk along the bay with great views of the Golden Gate Bridge.

  7. Palace of the Legion of Honor in Lincoln Park ( dont go if foggy day). A certain day is free but you dont even need to go into the museum if you dont want . Just walk.

Grace Cathedral on Nob Hill is most inspiring. The Presidio has lots of hiking with beautiful views ( another dont go if foggy if you want to see views that is)

    Walk along the Embarcadero

  8. this belongs somewhere else

  9. Ocean Beach,  North Beach, Chinatown.  There are a lot of places to walk around in or hike in the Bay Area.  Check out some of the coastal cities like Pacifica or Half Moon Bay as well.  You don't need to spend much money to enjoy these places.  You can pack a picnic lunch and explore.

To the person that asked what Bay Area,  this in the dining out, San Francisco, category.  That's a real good clue to which Bay Area.

  11. To answer which bay area--- THE !!! Bay Area... 'nuffsaid
