I am looking for specific info on dispersed campsites along the river. My friends and I get too loud to camp in one of the campgrounds. I am looking for a spot where we can get loud and obnoxious with out pissing people off or ruining there time. Landmarks or directions would help. Thanks Phil...

  1. this is a secret spot I found over thirty years ago so mark it all down. First off you will need a fire permit! Then exactly ten miles up the north fork up the river from the cobblestone bridge in Kern is a rural campground it is called Corral Creek it'll be on your left going north. Anyway what we did was go down stream from the parking area and in the shallows cross the river with everything and camp on the other side under huge oaks and rock piles two stories tall in sand up against the river. there are deep holes there and huge trout 20 feet down HUGE maybe 15 pounders take snorkel and fins. anyway the place is called corral creek and back up behind you (on that other side of the river from the parking) is corral creek and if you hike up it you will eventually get to springs and a deep creek where the skinny dipping is done all day. also brook trout are commonly caught on fly up there. it is steep you will need to backpack water for the hike and you will be in the sun most the whole time. if fires hasn't burned out the trees and cover the creek still might be cold enough to have the brookies in it. but that's the place and since there is no rest room (just a porta pottie) I would suggest taking one for the shy and bashful.to use if you camp where we used to there is no running water. just one thing, do me and the world a favor  ok?
