I was in London and Paris during both of their bids for the Olympics (back in 2005), it was pretty cool. And in London, right in the middle of Trafalgar Square, they had a "tent" set up that was showing video of great Olympic moments.....

I thought I heard them referring to London during the opening ceremonies (i.e. "I hope London doesn't spend the money to try and top this" kind of thing).
