Looking at a few campgrounds close to the track (i.e. Earhart, All-American, Gaines, etc.) for fun nightlife, good people, clean showers, etc. Need some good advice. We are tent-camping (with generators, of course) and looking for some shade with the amenities listed above. Getting in from FL on Wednesday the 20th in the A.M. Thanks for the help.

  1. I've been to Bristol night race for the past two years and I've stayed at the Hicks Whitetop Campground.  It's located on Hwy 394.  It's a really easy walk (or free shuttle ride) to the track.  Very friendly people run it, they have shower rooms and porta potties are everywhere.  Very reasonable price, last year it was 100.00 whether you stay all week or just a couple nights.

MAN! I wish I was going again this year.

  2. To be honest with you (I live within 2 hours of Bristol) all of the above are OK, but when you say "BEST" I don't think such a thing exists in Bristol. Keep in mind that (in case you've never been) Bristol is not a large market. So it's not the greatest accommodations but I don't think you can go wrong with the ones you have listed. Just an opinion.

  3. We've always stayed at Bristol Campground (they have a website) and they've been AWESOME. The hospitality is amazing! The showers are a little iffy but they have karaoke at night and everyone is friendly. We've been going for about 10 years and have not had a bad time yet. Not even with snow and pouring rain...lol.
