Cannes and Cap d'Antibes, on the south coast, are smooth and sandy and warm.  Just be prepared for pale overweight men in speedos.  Unless you're into that.

Not the Riviera. The ones we went to were all pebbles and had dog poo.

The beaches in the south of France are awesome from Biarritz through Hossegor.

Good vibes, good food, and when there's surf there are rippable waves all along the coast.
