  1. I stay Oahu!! North Shore is best, there are a lot of beaches there to choose from. Then you have waimea and that's okay if you wanna practice. Wailua, I'm not sure....

North Shore is da best! Choke hot people, hehe. =)

  2. During the winter with small to medium sized waves (nothing larger than 8 foot faces): Chuns Reef, Laniakea (North swell only), Leftovers, Haleiwa Point, and Pupukea sandbar.  These spots are all on the North Shore.   On the west shores: Tracks, Maile Point, and Makaha (mainly locals).

During the summer with small to medium sized waves:  Anywhere on the south shore.  Oahu's south shore has probably the best waves in the world with an endless amount of surf spots too numerous to mention for almost anyone with reasonable skill to enjoy.

Surfing on Oahu is crowded and if you want to avoid the crowds, you will probably have to know when the crowd is leaving and the breaks between the "surf shifts."   The crowd is part of the surf scene, so you might as well accept it and learn to blend in and enjoy it.

  3. I would be cautious on the North Shore in the winter unless it is going to be a small day up there.  You could easily start to paddle out at Sunset thinking it's small and be surprised with overhead conditions when you get to the line up.  Chun's Reef is good but I garuntee it is going to be somewhat crowded.

  4. i haven't surfed oahu but north shore is the best from what i heard

  5. Sure you can go North Shore but you might drown from the big waves this winter (if that's the right term) maybe you should try the southern shores for a day. if it's too easy try the western or eastern shores, they have higher waves i believe. or watch the news for the wave heights.

  6. During this time of year, the best places on Oahu for intermediate surfers is Chun's Reef, Leftovers and Haleiwa.  They all break pretty good when the surf is below 10 feet and are all on the north shore.  The surf does get HUGE there sometimes.  Those days it's probably better to just go sit on the beach at Ehukai or Pipeline to watch the experts.

  7. I'd say north shore side I'd go Chun's, Ehukai or Haleiwa. Stay away from Leftovers too much current to fight with. But it does have a nice break. Eastside I'd go Sharks Cove or Pounders, its fun to surf Pounders on a good day. South shore I'd go Kewalo, Bowls or Sand Island. Westside I'd go Tracks, Green Lanterns, Cabanas, Makaha Beach but watch it locals sometimes get crazy, Ke'au, Waikomo, Ranches, Yokohama second dip but only when its smaller than 8 feet. Any bigger might be too intense for you. And by the way stay away from the rights at Yokohama its deadly.
