  1. pickering and maltby

  2. From stations, looking down the bank from Grosmont as trains climb up to the station, from the overbridge if not too crowded as trains arrive and depart. There are viewing platforms for trains departing Goathland, and arriving through the tunnel. I always liked Levisham - you can get good shots from the north side of the level crossing, the signal box side, as the train approaches past the home signal.  You can get good shots of the trains in the landscape, above Newtondale Halt, from the forest drive beyond Levisham. There is a good spot near Beckhole, where the road crosses the railway. The locos are working hard here up bank. Don't forget that the railway now runs services into Whitby, so look for places for shots along the river bank, or looking down from Larpool viaduct.

  3. What a great train ride, seeing your question takes me back to a wonderful holiday in Yorkshire, the place I love most. The previous questioners have answered your question.

I do remember a waterfall in the area, but can't remember where, but perhaps it's mostly the trains you want to photograph?
