My family is from Ireland however like most american's immigrated awhile back. My family's hertiage is linked to the Fitzwalters and I would really like to go to the Castle. Any suggestions in the area where to stay?

  1. Were you aware that the prenom 'Fitz' usually means 'b*****d son of ' in Irish names. It isn't as horrible as it sounds though as the meanings have changed for the 'b' sounding bit...

Which area is it in though?

  2. I just loved Doolin and the Burrens on the west side.  Wild, beautiful, dramatic, great music and real people.

  3. Don't know anything about the Fitzwalters, but if you are visiting Ireland you should stay in the southwest - best scenery, best sites, best festivals and nicest people! Kerry is the best county in Ireland to visit, with Cork second.

  4. I'm afraid that it is very unlikely that they will have a castle as they were not a large clan compared to others like murphy or fitzpatrick. I'm Mcmillan and our "castle" was sween in argyll but it is considered campbell.

It might actually be scottish since irsh and scots have very similar names.
