  1. While it is very easy to spend vast sums of money on food in Paris it is also true that culinary standards are very high almost everywhere and even modest little cafes and hole in the wall restaurants can serve up memorable meals for very reasonable prices.

All French eating establishments are required by law to post their menu where it can be read from outside. Wander around side streets and places off the beaten tourist path and check prices until you find something that suits your budget and your taste.

Most cafes have daily specials that will be posted on a chalkboard. These are usually good value for money.

Most places also have a fixed price meal called either a "menu" or a "formula" which offers limited choices at good prices. A drink is often included (it will say "boisson compris").

P.S. The French refer to Micky Dee's as McDo.

  2. Your local Bar du Coin (corner bar) or Bistro usually has a good steak frites (steak & fries).

  3. Nowhere. Just kidding. Try Auchan or Carrefour.  It's like a buffet and the food is pretty decent.

  4. Monsieur Mickey Dee's

  5. every bakery and pastry shop you pass will be selling these amazing "jambon-fromage" (ham and cheese) sandwiches for super cheep.  Get a panini an a gare, or just look for the "Grec" shops.  (although I don't reccommend eating more than one grec per week as it will stop your heart.)

Or go to a grocery store, just for fun, look for Casino or Monoprix chains.

  6. You can try :

    - Chez Papa (food from south east part of France), there are several of them in Paris (http://www.eng.cityvox.fr/guide_paris/An... Prices are not really high (7€ to 20€)

    - Patata café : Potatoes restaurant. For 15€ you have a full meal (starter, main course, dessert and a drink) http://www.patatacafe.com

    - You also have a lot of "crêperie" (kind of pan cankes) in Odessa Street (Montparnasse quarter)

You can have a look on that website (sorry it's in French) http://www.restos-pas-chers.fr

And if you like junk food, there are a lot of McDonald's, Quick and KFC !

  7. Quick is a fast food restaurant which started in France.  Restaurants de fast food (yeah that's what they are called) are less expensive.  You can also eat at bistros and cafes like French ppl.  You can save some $ by asking for "un carafe d'eau" (a carafe of tap water) which French restaurants MUST provide free if you have ordered food.  If the menu says "service compris" it means "tip included" or no additional tip needed (unless you want to stand out as a tourist).  You can get prepared foods from the deli section of some supermarkets which is less expensive.  Don't be shocked by the roast beef which is REALLY rare (almost raw looking).  You can also get better, less expensive food by AVOIDING the restaurants near tourist attractions (which figure that tourists will patronize them even if they serve mediocre and expensive food).
