Where are the best trails for mountain biking or light trail riding in Long Beach Ca (seal beach area)

Are there any bike clubs in long beach I can ride with while I'm in town for 2 months (Aug-Sept)

There aren't any mountains in Long Beach or Seal Beach and there aren't any unpaved trails to ride on. Signal Hill in the middle of Long Beach looks promising, but, alas, no trails.  

Most of the trails are at least 20 miles away in Orange County. The trails in LA County are even farther away.

You can ride along the San Gabriel River and Los Angeles River, although both of them are paved paths. The San Gabriel River path has less criminal activity than the LA River path.  You can also ride your bike along the ocean, also paved.

Huntington Beach has a popular paved bike path that is along the bluff that overlooks the ocean.  

Check with the people that work at the Bikestation in downtown Long Beach for bike clubs. Website is below.

I know they do Critical Mass rides in Long Beach, but running stop lights, stop signs and blocking intersections doesn't endear their cause to me.
