Where are the big sand dunes in New Zealand? the ones that they use in tv shows?

I'll be living in New Zealand and I've always wanted to see them, I think they used them in hercules for dessert scenes

The biggest sand dunes I've seen in NZ were at the entrance to Opononi harbour, and they weren't very big.

At the very north of North Island shortly before Cape Reinga and at the end of Ninety Mile Beach is an  impressive sand dune at Te p**i Stream.
