there is "cau lac bo nhac jazz" a jazz club just north of the hoan kiem lake at 31luong van can street.  i also like sitting on the street corner of "ta hinh" & "luong ngoc quen" streets drink bia hoi [ tap beer] and chat with backbackers , expats, and local viet namese.... i have a feeling you'd like both places.

in the early morning [ and you must get up and out early and least once in awhile in viet nam] go down and stroll the hoan kiem lake. 5am be there!!... you can go back to sleep later.

go to da downtown . there's alot of cafe's & bar's around hkiem lake

Unfortunately< Hanoi's nightlife leaves something to be desired.  The Toilet Bar seems to be the in place at the moment for the younger crowd.   Amazon for Xpats,  Mao's Red Lounge for small and fancy,   Le Pub for Chill out.  Dragonfly for Late night.  Have fun!
