Question:

Where are the generic ED drugs?

Some ED drugs have been in the marketplace for almost a decade. Most insurance plans don't cover the cost of these medications which are very expensive. How come there are no generic equivalent drugs on the market that would cut the cost to consumers.

Other drugs had generics in only a few years., such as Zocor.

  1. because all of the pill form ED drugs (Viagra, Cialis, Levitra) are new. The older drugs are actually injections, and they have to be compounded at a pharmacy which makes them expensive

  2. The patent is still valid for these medications until they expire.  Viagra's patent expires in either 2011 or 2013 I believe, however a year or so before the generic companies will probably bid to Pfizer to have their generic released ahead of the others even while the patent is still active.
