  1. Europe generally has the highest gas prices in the world...but it's difficult to find current global information.


  2. In the US, CA and CT have among the highest, partly because they have different (& stricter) formulation requirements to limit pollution. This increases refining costs and also decreases the 'economies of scale' that normally push prices lower.  AK and HI have high prices as well, due to shipping costs etc. I think of fairly major metro areas, Waterbury CT has the highest average price...see:

  3. It took a bit of looking to get the most up to date information. I found a chart comparing gas prices for 2008 - a couple of the places it was 2007.

    The highest is

    Turkey 2.68 / litre or 10.14 a U.S. gal  

    Norway (Oslo) 2.56 / litre or  9.69 a U.S. gal
