Question:

Where are the mass protests on Russia's invasion of Georgia?

South Ossetia and Abkhazia are within the national borders of Georgia. Even though many residents there hold Russian passports they are subjects of the Georgian national government.

If this can be justified then can we expect Mexico to invade as we enforce immigration laws that involve their citizens?

In any case, where are the mass street protests in the US? Why is no one burning the Russian flag and calling the Russian army babykillers?

  1. Russia's invasion was justified.  Even though Russian citizens in South Ossetia and Abkhazia are subjects of Georgian national government does not give the Georgian government free rein to kill them.  Maybe if the Iraqi government had killed any Americans before our invasion, there wouldn't be so many protestors of that invasion.

  2. You won't see any because the lying, liberals lackeys are hoping that Russia retakes Georgia. Hypocrites!

  3. Where are the mass protests against the massacre of 1600 Osetians by Suck...'s (whatever his name is) regime, just because Osetia and Abkhazia refuse to take part in that power starving regime's provocations and its effort to join a military block against Russia?

South Osetia and Abkhazia have the full right to be independent from a regime who leads its people to betraying Russia. They have a full right to become part of Russia-if they want to-too.

Who decided what the borders of Georgia "should be"? Your Georgian "Uncle Joe".

By the way, what exactly is Suck..'s military background? I am just curious...

  4. Because it is the Georgian army is the babykillers.

Under cover of the night, when people were asleep, georgian army started the genocide of S.Ossetia again ( there was a first try in 1991, and it ended with peace agreement in 1992 with Russia as the mediator and the peacekeeper). They ruined the capital of S.Ossetia with heavy artillery and anti-inantry missles killing in one night about 2000 civilians and 10 russian peacekeepers.

According to its obligations Russia had to protect the civlians.

And US is supporting georgian terrorists in this conflict like a lot of other terrorists that are not hostile to US now..

  5. None will be forthcoming. Those who would protest something like this view Georgia as an American puppet state and therefore will not directly support them in such an overt fashion. Besides most of the protest types I have seen seem to have more sympathy for South Ossentia and by extension the Russians. Let's just call it "Underdog Syndrome".

Josiah: I like your Canadian analogy, but I have to dispute the Texas/Mexico statement. The Mexican government, aka the legal governing authority invited people to immigrate to Texas with a promise of land and citizenship. When the settlers arrived they found they were treated as second class citizens with little rights even though they were in Texas by invitation. When the settlers began to dispute this treatment, Santa Anna moved troops in to quell the uprisings (i.e. Goergia/South Ossentia). The United States did not send troops, nor did they attack the country of Mexico. The Texans or Texicans as they were called at the time fought the Mexicans in several very distinctive battles which culminated with the capture of Santa Ana and forced surrender at San Jacinto. This resulted in a peace treaty and independence won for Texas. Note that because it is very important (independence won by the rebels, not granted,  without external military help from a larger power). The end of the story is that after enjoying a short period as a an independent nation it was feared that Sanata Ana would re-invade Texas and for security purposes Texas joined the Union.

Apologies to anyone who didn't want to read that, but I could not email it due to Josiah's email blocking.

  6. I don't think this is anything like Mexican immigration to the US.  First, the "invasion" you describe is exactly how we got Texas from Mexico: we moved enough Americans there to force a secession.  Secondly, the people who live in S. Ossetia and Abkhazia didn't emigrate there from Russia; they've been living there since before the Soviet era.

It's more like when Quebec wanted to become the 51st state.  If Canada had sent troops to Quebec to destroy the separatist movement there, and America had retaliated against Canada, it would have been similar to what's happening in the Caucasus.

  7. For what it is worth I am openly rooting against any Russians in the Olympics. Last night I listened to a Pink Floyd song "Sorrow" and I couldn't help but think of those people in Georgia.

Here is a sample of the lyrics, you should check it out.

"The sweet smell of a great sorrow lies over the land

Plumes of smoke rise and merge into the leaden sky:

A man lies and dreams of green fields and rivers,

But awakes to a morning with no reason for waking

He's haunted by the memory of a lost paradise

In his youth or a dream, he can't be precise

He's chained forever to a world that 's departed

It's not enough, it's not enough"

Again, for what it is worth, I am outraged that our government isn't doing much to help them considering they committed ground troops to Iraq.

  8. Russia's invasion fo Georgia. There is no such thing as that. South ossetia voted at 95% to not be a part of Georgia anymore and to be their own country. They were all georgians at that time. It was back in 1992. Georgia said no and started to commit crimes against those people. Then Russia made a peace treaty that Georgia signed that would make them all leave in peace without Georgia attacking them. They then got offered Russia citizenship and they all accepted it. Get your facts straight. Georgia bombed them killing over 2000 south ossetians during the opening ceremonies of the olympic games so that the whole world wouldn't know. Russia went in to defend them and no other reason. Stop your propaganda. The cold war is over since a very long time.

  9. They are all virtual protests, we are too lazy to do actual protesting.
