I hear all about how great of a job the riders are doing, and how amazing they're handling the "animal" but how about a little credit for the horse? Is it just the coverage I'm seeing/channels I'm watching or is it everything?

I'm not downplaying the rider's role in the partnership, but horse riding is just that, a partnership.

  1. Yeah, I think the newscasters think the rider is the actual athelete and not the horse! It is actually the opposite.

  2. I think that's just the reporters and newscasters not getting it. The riders definitely do. I was watching dressage this morning and the lady from Australia (can't remember her name) who had a fabulous ride, was all smiles and clapping, and as she rode out was pointing down to her horse with her thumbs over and over, making it very clear who did the awesome job, her horse!

  3. You're absolutely right!!!!

You wouldn't imagine it, but riding is a lot of hard work.  The horse though gets no credit at ALL, it's so sad!!!!!!!!!

  4. the riders give their horses a lot of credit as do others knowledgeable about horses.  It's like other sports the actually athletic gets the gold medal and all the coaches. parents.  trainers are just in thebackgroundd
