  1. It's actually the opposite...the majority of a sperm's mitochondria are located in its tail.  This is because mitochondria are the primary cellular energy source, and sperm need more energy in their tails than in their heads.  Once the head enters the egg, the tail falls off, leaving most of the mitochondria behind.  This is why almost all mitochondrial DNA is passed from your mother.


  2. I think you are asking where the mitochondria of sperm are. They are located in the head of the sperm, as opposed to being in the tail, which is called a flagella.
