Crete is really beautiful. You should definitely visit the city Heraklion there, and even go West and visit some smaller places like Chania and Kissamos. There's a peaceful area on the West coast of Crete called Falasarna where a few guest houses are. Nearby are some pubs/restaurants where you can have a good time drinking, have some smokes if that's your thing, and just hang out.

Most of the islands in Greece have nice beaches.  Corfu, Mikonos, Rhodes.  If you are staying on the mainland, Athens have them and so does Thessaloniki.
