I just had a diagnosis done on my 2003 Ford Taurus and the Mechanic told me both the Oxygen Sensors were no good... I checked around and it will cost close to $500 to fix it. I talked to another mechanic and he told me you could just take them off, wire brush them and they are as good as new. First, is this true? Second, where are the Oxygen sensors located at on this vehicle?

  1. I am not real familiar with the Ford's  but look around underneath the car by the cat converters. Dont know about the cleaning part. might be a cheap fix that works.  Wont cost much anyway. 500 bucks sounds way too high.

  2. You can try a wire brush and see what will happen but dont use any type of chemicals on the O2 sensors and you should have 4 of them so make sure that they have scanned the computer completely and that they know if all of them are bad or if they just want to replace all of them........

You have a front right and left bank O2 sensor and 2 in the rear, you will need to lift up the car so that you can get to them.
