Republicans where are the jobs at? 8 years of Rebublicans and we are losing more jobs than ever. Trickle down went to @#$% with Regan.

The Dems only been in control barely 2 years, after decades of Rebubs.

Exxon, the world's largest publicly traded oil company, said fourth-quarter net income rose 14% to $11.66 billion, or $2.13 per share. The company earned $10.25 billion, or $1.76 per share, in the year-ago period.

21 Billion just in 2 years

Where the new jobs at?

Continental Airlines is cutting three-thousand jobs and grounding nearly 70 airplanes.

Banks and financial services companies with banking operations are in the process of cutting tens of thousands of jobs.

United Airlines said Monday it plans to eliminate about 950 pilot jobs beginning this summer in addition to an already announced plan to cut 1,600 salaried positions and reduce its fleet.

Come on Rebubs explain that one?

  1. McDonald's is still hiring.  You can get a whopping $9 an hour if you're willing to work the late shift.  fast food and convenience stores offer the most jobs these days.  Trickle down works when the trickle actually goes down.  This has not, of course, happened.

  2. You do understand that the unemployment rate has been pretty darn low over the last 8 years right?  Wasn't it as low as 3.9% at one point?  That's low...  Yes the unemployment statistics are rising after the burst of the housing bubble and the cost of gas but the unemployment rate has been very low until recently.

If you want to share in Exxon's profits purchase stock... see how that works?

The most jobs are created by small business who are not rich at all in fact most are barely hanging in there.  The tax hikes planned by the Democrats will injure those small businesses so look for more job loss, the tax hikes won't hurt the rich they will only hurt the small businesses struggling to make it.

The proposed tax hikes begin at $250K right about where the small businesses start.  Small businesses will take it on the chin, since you are a small business owner I would think you understand this better than most.

As to Continental and United, gas prices are getting to them their way of keeping prices low for customers is to cut employee's.

Banks are of course hurt by the housing bubble burst, of course they caused some of it too but I do sympathize with those who are loosing their jobs.

Republicans and Democrats alike are responsible for our problems, while the President is a Republican his current Congress is Democrat controlled and the job losses are AFTER that Congress took control so the blame should be put on both parties.

  3. Decades of Republican control?  What country are you in?

Funny how the democrats have been in control of congress for only 2 years and the cost of oil has since skyrocketed.  Coincidence?  I think not.

  4. The whole world is in recession pal

  5. the jobs are being closed out due to much less consumer spending caused by gas prices eating up all the extra disposable income....if all the money you make is being spent on food and gas to go to work, you cant eat at Burger King every night and there go those jobs...get away from the repubs...the government is now controlled by the Dims...its their turn to fix it...so PONY UP PELOSI

  6. calm down Commie.

unemployment rate is at 5.5% - but was a lot lower before the onset of the subprime mortgage collapse

-airlines have almost always been an unprofitable industry w/ the exception of Southwest. They barely get by in good times and are headed for doom in these times w/ high oil prices.

Yes, Exxon is making huge profits ... which belong to its shareholders - not any homeless guy out on the street looking for a job.

We aren't losing jobs b/c of which party is in control but because of an economic slowdown - just think, if a political party could control the economy, don't you think they would always want to keep the economy booming to get reelected?

  7. Must be in fast food or retail stores. I sure haven't seen any sign of new jobs.

  8. What planet are you on...the Republicans had Congress for less than 10 years....which is LESS than 1 decade....not plural......and if you bother with the FACTS that you yourself posted....all the spikes in gas and food.....and the increase in unemployment came ....AFTER the Dems took back control of Congress....hey ...dont let little things like FACTS get in the way of your OPINION....you might stumble on REALITY rather than the fantasy land you seem to be living in,,,as far as the jobs.....even WITH the recent increase...is is still lower than Clinton's average......explain that......

  9. Why don't you quit whining and get out there and create some jobs.

    fs

  10. Show me an empty classifieds section, in any newspapers, anywhere in the nation.  You can't do it.  It's not our fault that you don't have the education or the expertise to find a good job.

  11. Where are all the jobs the rich are supposed to create with all of those tax cuts Bush created for them?

India, China, Mexico. Mostly Asia, where the corporate modus operandi is to pay them relatively low wages and, therefore, the competition for these jobs is fierce, resulting in 20 hour work days performed voluntarily by the workers.

If you think we work too much in the US, go over to Korea, Taiwan or Japan sometime. You'd be amazed at how long people over there work on a daily basis. And they are thankful to be employed.

Want to know why we in the US don't want corporations to hold as much power as the Republicans want to give them? That's why.

  12. Not a repub, but why don't you ask the democrats why they refuse to allow off shore oil drilling in the united states so we can avoid even more dependence on foreign oil and pay MUCH LESS than what we are paying now. The democrats have made their contribution to our current status.

As an American citizen who loves her country, I feel obligated to make ALL politicians accountable and not be led astray into a "us" and "them" game that the politicians play.

You need to get out of the thinking of democrats can make the poor rich, or that the republicans take away from the poor. Both parties are actually equally revolting.
