My 2003 Dodge 1500 has a miss in the engne. Took it to the mechanic, said they changed plugs but not looking like it. I think they just cleared the computer so the engine light would go off. Looking for possible answers.

  1. look at the plug wires, 1 end goes to the dist. cap and the other end of the plug wires goes to the plugs.

  2. Follow the plug wires down over the side of the heads.  They will end on the spark plugs.  If the engine has recently been running, they will be hot.

  3. not sure but you might have the plugs buried under individual coil packs. I don't think you have plug wires or a distributor for that matter

  4. If you want to find the spark plugs on any engine look for the coil pack (it's usually a unit with thicker dark leads coming out of it can sometimes be 1 for each cylinder or 2 for a 6 cylinder or v6 or v8 or just a sigle unit) the wires are thicker because of the current they will charge through the coil to the spark plug! If you follow one of the leads they will take you to a "boot" this is usually in the "head" of the engine and can be either at the top or on the side either way when you pull the boot it will feel very tight if you give it a twist it should come away easy and underneath you will see a spark plug you need a special spark plug socket to remove the plugs. When you find one you will usually see the others going into the motor. rule of thumb look on thopposite side of the exhaust system or between the exhaust "headers"

    hope this helps good Luck
