Does anyone know where we stand as far as biblical prophecy goes? How can we compare the things in the news with specific prophecies in the Bible?

  1. There is a list but no time, we are in the period where Satan is in control, wars and rumor of wars, economic and political upheaval, peace has been taken from the earth, the gospel is being preached in most of the world.  Storms and such will get generally worse and more violent.

  2. Why am I not an atheist anymore? Hmmm let me think

  3. We are currently in Revelation chapters 2 and 3.  The future is chapter 6 and everything after chapter 6.

  4. We are at the point where we are waiting for the catching up of the church and the tribulation to begin.

Its getting close. Once iran gets nuclear weapons they will try to attack Israel to wipe them out as in Ezekiel chapters 38 & 39.

Once peace is established in israel. They will seek to rebuild the temple which the antichrist or beast will enter and declare himself to be God.

  5. The biblical prophets were addressing concerns of their own time; not the 21st century AD - as anybody would know who cared to read them. For Jeremiah, to take just one example, the "end time" came in 587BC, with the fall of Jerusalem to the Babylonians.

  7. Right now, we are somewhere between 1,900 and 1,960 years late for the "End of the World".  The bible is full of prophesy that clearly states the world will end either during the lifetimes of Jesus' listeners, or during the lifetimes of those who recorded His words & deeds in the New Testament.

Maybe He got another position somewhere else and forgot about us?

    Luke 21:8-17

    2 Tim 3:1-5

    Dan 2:43,44a

  9. Some prophecies point to Jesus returning to the current generation. Luke 21 shows the return of Christ, and many compare the prophecy given in Isaiah 51 to the one in Luke 21 because it contains some similar wording.  Isaiah 51 includes a prophecy of the return of Israel.  It links the generation that witnesses the return of Israel to the one alive when Christ returns.

Many, like Hal Lindsey, claimed it was fulfilled in 1948 when Israel was recognized by the U.N.  But the prophecy in Isaiah 51 specifically mentions Zion, where Jerusalem is.

Isaiah 51:3 states, "For the Lord shall comfort Zion. . . ."  V.11 states, "therefore the redeemed of the Lord shall return, and come with singing unto Zion. . . ."  References to Zion refer to Mt. Zion where Jerusalem is, and Israel didn't take control of it until it's capture in 1967.

Here is a comparison of Isaiah 51 and Luke 21:

Isaiah 51:5-6 states, "my righteousness is near; . . . lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look to the earth beneath: for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment. . . ."

Luke 21:28 states, "and when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh."

So, "my righteousness is near" (Isa. 51) is the same as "your redemption draweth nigh" (Luke 21).  And "lift up your eyes to the heavens" (Isa. 51) is the same as "look up, lift up your heads" (Luke 21).

As Luke 21 continues vv. 32-33 states, "Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away till all be fulfilled.  Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away."  That compares to Isaiah 51:6, "for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment."

It is clear these passages are paralleling one another.  But the important verse is where Luke says all this happens during one generation.  If you read in Isaiah 51 in the verses before and after those quoted above, it fortells the return of the Jews to Zion.  Mt. Zion is where Jerusalem is located.

Luke also makes a specific mention of Jerusalem.  Luke 21:24 states, "and they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled."

This verse transitions from events in the first century until the end times just before Christ returns.  Jerusalem fell in AD 70 and the Jews were led away captive and dispersed among the nations.  There was no Jewish authority over Jerusalem until 1967 when it was captured in the six day war.  The times of the Gentiles to rule over Jerusalem came to an end.

So, both Isaiah 51 and Luke 21 specifically point to their return to Jerusalem, and it doesn't really mention the beginning of Jewish statehood which happened in 1948, but only the return to Jerusalem.  1967 is the better date to count from since we know that was the date of the prophecy's fulfillment.

Here's another prophecy that may have some bearing on this topic:

Daniel 8:13-14, "then I heard on saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain saint which spake, How long shall be the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot?  And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed."

This section of Daniel's prophecy is connected to the Grecian Empire.  Alexander the Great conquered Jerusalem in 332 BC.  If you count those 1,300 days as years from that time you come to 1967.  For all those years Israel had been under the thumb of some foriegn power, although at times having some autonomy.

Like Luke 21:24 we have the term "trodden under foot," which seems to imply the city being presided over by a foriegn power.  In 1967 Israel became the power presiding over Jerusalem.

  10. What is as precious as silver and gold? (Oil) Who is to the north and East of MiddleEast oil? (Moscow)

Dan 11 40And at the time of the end shall the king of the south push at him: and the king of the north shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over.

41He shall enter also into the glorious land, and many countries shall be overthrown: but these shall escape out of his hand, even Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon.

42He shall stretch forth his hand also upon the countries: and the land of Egypt shall not escape.

43But he shall have power over the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt: and the Libyans and the Ethiopians shall be at his steps.

44But tidings out of the east and out of the north shall trouble him: therefore he shall go forth with great fury to destroy, and utterly to make away many.

  11. When the 'bible' states that Vladimir Putin will be the ex-premier of Russia in 2008 - and in those terms - as an example, then biblical 'prophecy' becomes valid. The bible is full of fanciful tales of fiction that people want to twist to match the current reality. Remember, people have been saying they were living in the 'end' times for the last 2000 years.

  12. We can't

  13. We are a part of it. We are the Christ's Church.

  14. We are in the 5th trumpet. We are waiting for the New World Order to be in place and for 3 nations to fall away from it(I'm guessing the christian nations),thus creating the deadly wound and then the anti-christ to come(6th trumpet) to fix everything.

Edit...I would be weary of wanting to be taking before the tribulation, this rapture that you have been taught.Gods Word makes it clear that Christ will not come till the son of perdition be revealed!(2 Thes.2:3)

Two men working in the field, the one is taken, the other left behind...satan took the 1st one,not Christ!(Matt.24:40,41)Blessed is the worker still working when Christ comes.

The angels are to gather the tares before the wheat!(Matt.13:30)
