  1. Uttar Pradesh (U.P.) in North India, capital Lucknow.I must tell you that India has 25 states and 7 Union Territories n 1of them is U.P. India's capital Delhi.

  2. I'm originally from West Virginia, where, despite supposedly being 'inbred hicks' we manage to have a much more pleasant and beautiful state than our supposedly civilized neighbors in Ohio.

The State capitol is Charleston, State Bird is the Cardinal, State Flower is the Rhododendron, state nickname is the mountain state, state song is John Denver's "Take me Home, Country Roads". West Virginia is home to the yearly Vandalia folk music festival, a mountain ski resort in Pocahontas county, and the famous Greenbrier Resort Spa Hotel under which is a massive nuclear bunker that was built in secret as a bolthole for the President in case of nuclear war with Russia. There are two nationally known private universities in West Virginia, Marshall University in Huntington and West Virginia University in Morgantown. It is the general opinion of many students at Marshall that Morgantown contains no intelligent life. Marshall is probably most famous for the tragic plane crash that killed their entire football team in the 70s, which is the subject of a recent film starring Matthew McConaughey called "We are Marshall". Point Pleasant, West Virginia was the setting of the Richard Gere film "The Mothman Prophecies" which was based on a real local legend and the tragic christmas collapse of the Silver Bridge between Point Pleasant and Gallipolis Ohio.

It is not a general opinion of all West Virginians that Ohio is horrible, that's just me. After living there for a year, I can tell you Ohio's biggest features are King's Island, Road Construction, Seaworld, Road Construction, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Road Construction, industrial trash all over people's front yards, ugly as h**l trailor homes, Road Construction, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Poisonous fast food (White Castle and Waffle Hut especially), the COSI science museum and Road Construction. Ohio is the Buckeye state, capitol is Columbus, most famous cities are Cincinnatti and Cleveland.

I also lived in Virginia for several years and found it far better than Ohio. The Capitol is Richmond, the nickname is the Old Dominion State. Notable cities include Arlington (home of the Pentagon and the National Cemetary), Fredericksburg (home of a great example of why Abe Lincoln sucked at choosing generals), Petersburg (home of a civil war battlefield that was far more explosive than most), Norfolk (home of about a third of the entire US navy), and Virginia Beach (very beautiful but overregulated tourist destination).

Currently I live in the Provincie Noord Brabant, which is the second southernmost province of the Netherlands. It's capitol is Breda, and notable cities include Den Bosch (home of Bosche Bollen, aka chocolate balls filled with enough whipped creme to kill a bull moose), Eindhoven (original home of the industrial/electrical giant Phillips, which gave you mass produced light bulbs and TVs), Helmond (home of Edam cheese, and half the textiles that are sold in africa) and the village of Nuenen (one time home of Vincent van Gogh, plus a cute zoo). The local colors are Red and White, and the area is historically Roman Catholic (as opposed to the protestant provinces in the north). Noord Brabant is remarkable for its summer heat waves and its vast number of local dialects (every city and most old villages have their own dialect of the dutch language which is different enough to require subtitles for people from other cities).

  3. Tennessee-capital is Nashville, became a state in 1796, the 16th state. The largest city is Memphis, where Elvis Presley's home still is today-Graceland. Tennessee is divided into west, middle and east. I live in Middle TN, but near the line of East....the west is the flattest and hottest. There are more than 8,000 caves in Tennessee, making that the most in any other state. Tennessee was once briefly named the state of Franklin, but was changed soon after.  In 2000, the demographics said Tennessee was 82.08% white, 16.81% black, 1.22% Asian and the rest is smaller than 1%. Baptist religion is the most common, although I'm a Methodist. University of Tennessee is the most popular college and the Tennessee Volunteers is the biggest sports thing people worship...LOL...colors are orange and white. So, seeing orange in Tennessee is common. The name Tennessee is Cherokee, because Cherokee once lived in Tennesee and there are many Cherokee attractions in TN, especially in Chattanooga. It's nicknamed the Volunteer state. Andrew Jackson is from Tennessee, so is Reese Witherspoon, Megan Fox, Justin Timberlake and lots of country music stars, because Nashville is the country music capital of the world.

  4. I live in southern California. It's a pretty state and we are lucky in we can be at the beach or the mountains or the desert in and hour or less. I love our mountains which are always in view no matter where we are at, and I can't imagine living anywhere I can't see mountains. I think most of society in CA are open to letting people live their life and seek joy, happiness and prosperity, which makes me happy. We are very diverse here which I also love because I can learn about so many cultures and meet so many interesting people from alll walks of life. Our downside in life here is the crowds, traffic problems, school systems are poor. So much building has been allowed it has actually changed our weather and we no longer enjoy natures cooling from the farming land that was everywhere.  Then there is the smog, which has improved but we still have depressingly smoggy days where I can't see the large mountains right behind my house. Now we are suffering from a drought and have water shortages, which I blame the out of control building that has been happening for so many years. Our weather is very stable and usually warm, of course summers seem to be getting hotter and hotter. I've lived my entire life here so it's hard to imagine living anywhere else. My husband and I are talking about maybe retirement in Oregon. It's cleaner air, beautiful land, and I can still have my mountains. We are tired of the traffic and smog and just wouldn't mnd a quiter way of life. California is a wonderful place to grow up in as there is so much to do and see. Getting older, ya just wish for a little more peace and land.
