However there are still thousands of planes up in the air, and what if they collide into eachother and crash? How come we never hear about it when im sure it happens?

  1. fact - a car

  2. Auto accidents in the USA  account for 30 to 40 thousand deaths per year. If airplanes caused  even one tenth this many fatalities ,the public would be in an uproar. It's just that

plane deaths are more spectacular, causing a larger number of deaths in any given accident.

  3. Car - Aircraft are much more reliable, pilots check that the aircraft is airworthy every single time they fly, the engines are checked by a certified mechanic every 100 hours and once every year on top of that, as for collisions, generally the places where there is dense aircraft traffic there is also air traffic controllers with radar to help seperate aircraft to prevent collisions. Also, the training that pilots get is far more intensive than what drivers get and pilots are tested to a much higher level of safety. Overall aircraft are far more safe in the hands of a certified pilot (which is really the only people that should be flying them legally anyway)

  4. The car. there would have to be a 200 passenger airliner crashing every day for the whole year to kill as many people that we do on our roads every year, so yeah flying is safer as you are most likely to get killed on the way to the airport.

  5. Car. The number of car accidents is bigger than plane accidents. But a plane accident is worse than a car accident.

  6. Cars are definitely more dangerous. The reason is controll. Aircraft are directed constantly, while drivers on the roads are not. Imagine taking a hundred people and putting them in a large room like a gymnasium and tell them to walk around. Without direction, they'll walk around aimlessly, talking to each other, looking around, and bumping into each other. It'll be chaos. Then give each person a little radio and put thirty people in a room overlooking them. Tell the walkers to perfectly follow directions given to them  through their radio. Explain to them that if they don't follow those directions, they may be killed along with about a hundred people. Explain to them that if no one is killed, that they will be fined and possibly imprisoned. Then tell the people in the room overhead to direct the walkers in an orderly fashion and avoid any collisions or THEY will be prosecuted and possibly held responsible for deaths. You'll see order in the room very quickly. Basically, the only system on roads is a few rules and lights. In the air, there are more rules to follow closely and a lot of people directing the action to insure it stays safe. Our systems of air traffic controll keep all of those thousands of planes from colliding.

  7. Most definitely a car.

The likeliness of any kind of plane accident is not high, whether it be problems with the plane or for some reason crashing. Plus the pilots definitely know what they're doing...

Cars on the other hand are handled by a bunch of idiots... or well, a lot of them are. If there's something wrong with the car, people might not do anything about it, and there's a lot of reckless and drunk driving.

  8. A car. There are more drunks on the roads!

  9. car

  10. car. there are more accident from a car then a plane.

  11. When your number comes up. Odds are it will be in a car, most likely by a drunk driver.
