  1. I would check into some Siberian Husky rescues around or near your area. Or, you can check at your local shelter.

  2. Many humane societies keep a list of people who are looking for or selling a specific breed of dog. Start by checking there!

  3. Huskies are usually plentiful in the rescues and shelters.

PLEASE do your research and make sure that a husky is the correct breed for you.  They are one of the most owner turned in breeds.

People get them because of their beautiful looks but they are not the easiest breed to live with.

They can be great with the right person.

  4. I agree with the rescue sources first and does it have to be a baby?

If you do buy a puppy, please check the health certificates of the parents.  Huskeys are extremely susceptible to Retinal dystrophy as well as hip dystrophy, they can go blind by the age of 2.  I also agree that they need to be with the right type of person in the right household.

  5. If you are looking for a puppy, you may not find one at a shelter. I'm all for rescue (having been involved in Siberian rescue for 20 years), but the fact is, most people don't dump their Siberians in shelters/on rescue groups until the dogs are 1-2 years old, and these people realize that they can't deal with the dog they thought was "so beautiful" as a puppy.

DO NOT go to a pet store. The best way to locate a responsible Siberian husky breeder is through the Siberian Husky Club of America website:

There are plenty of puppymills and backyard breeders in GA. If you find a slick website for a Siberian breeder, this article might help you determine if you're dealing with a responsible person:

    Good luck!

  6. Please consider looking into Sibe rescues in your area. Also they animal shelters may have a young Sibe that really needs a home.

  7. rescue one, go to www.siberianrescue.com

Are you familiar with how high maitainance huskies are?  They need lots of excercise, shed like crazy, and tend to run away and dig holes. Do you really think a dog that has been bred for cold weather will be happy in Georgia?

  8. We got out Husky at the SPCA - Huskies love to run away so many of them end up in the shelter!  Yes also look at the Husky rescues - many people can't stand the exercise needed for the breed and the mischief of the dog!  Good luck with finding your Sibe!

  9. humane society, please be informed of all the siberian husky traits, they can be a hand full.

  10. Try all local animal shelters and humane societies (those are the best if you're on a budget).

Don't be afraid of rescue organizations, although they can be very picky about who can adopt one of their dogs.

Try Petfinder.org, it will show you husky and husky mixes near you.

Just a tip, you probably won't be able to find a puppy unless you want to shell out the cash for one from a breeder.

  11. kuririn, I like the personality of a siberian husky. They are so sweet.

  12. PET STORE
