I mean the kind of puppies which stay small. I dunno what's the term to describe them but all I know is that they remain the same size thru out their life.

If they are usually not available for adoption, then how much would they cost? I really love to get one. Any info would be helpful. Thanks!

  1. Purebred dogs that stay relatively small are commonly referred to as "Toys" or "Toy Breeds".  This would be the Yorkshire terrier, Chihuahua, Japanese Chin, Papillon, etc.    See the AKC website for a complete list.

These types of dogs were originally bred to be companions for the upper classes.  So, puppies tend to cost a bit more than other breeds ($300-$1000).  Also, because of their small size - they often have trouble producing large litters - so again they cost more.  I suggest that you go to a dog show or shelter and see if there is a type of dog that you might like to own.  Remember to research all about dog ownership - they are your pet for life and the Toy breeds can live 15-18 years.  Also - once you decide on a breed - think about getting a rescue dog.  Adults are 1/2 to a 1/4 the cost of a puppy.

  2. You mean toy breeds? You can check your local shelters. Go to www.petfinder.com. They range in prices, lower if you go through shelters and rescue, and higher when you buy from breeders. To get a good look at the toy group breeds I suggest you go to http://www.akc.org/breeds/toy_group.cfm. They also have breeder referrals and rescue links.

  3. visit this link :http://puppylounge.com/index.php?option=... . You will find all the information that is required and then you can also send inquiry to the breeders and snap shots of the puppies are also available.

  4. Find your local pound or society for animals and they will be able to advise you on what size they will grow. Be aware the guesses they have on stray dogs ethnic makeup can sometimes be incorrect.

  5. Shelter.

Keep an eye on the shelter, sometimes mothers give birth to babies that can't be looked after and sent to the shelter =)

Chihuahuas, Pomerians, go search online or library for that.

Also, when you adopt from shelter, not only are you saving a life, but also you get it desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, worm and heart wormed checked, for a discounted value then from the pet shop or puppy mills or breeders.

DONT EVER BUY FROM PUPPY MILLS OR PET SHOPS.

they do it for profits so much, the dogs are sickk and also very unsolicised, i say this to everyone; and if you plan to spend $$$ on your pooch, then dont get a dog from pet shop or puppy mill.

Your suporting the puppy mills force the adult dogs to have s*x everyday!! >:(

so yes, go online and search around and good luck!!

  6. Your local shelter.  Try dachshunds or chihuahuas.  Toy breeds are very fragile and should be watched all the time.  Be careful of petstores and breeders without certifications.

  7. Why not rescue a dog from a puppy mill; they usually only have small dogs.  and they are usually pedigree and of normal price - like maybe around $300.
