  1. www.grants.gov

The official list is on that site.

  2. You may want to complete your FAFSA.  Depending on income, and financial need, it may automatically qualify you for federal and state grants towards your education.  Scholarships are a bit different.  Different companies, foundations, and organizations handle these things differently, and with vastly different application due dates.  Go online to a scholarship search site, or check out a book at your local public library on financial aid and scholarships.

  3. fill out the fafsa... go to fafsa.ed.gov

  4. There are 3 types of financial aid you should try to get

    1. Government loans - the first step to qualifying for these is by filling out a FAFSA. This will let colleges know what your financial need is and they can then distribute federal funds to you in the form a low interest rate loan.

    2. School scholarships - many schools offer academic scholarships to students who meet certain criteria. Check with your college (or potential colleges') financial aid office for more information on these.

    3. Outside scholarships - there are numerous outside scholarships for which you may qualify. Some of these are given out by private foundations and others by corporations. You can conduct a scholarship search at:

    Good luck!
