  1. PADI is the largest certifying agency in the US.  They work with dive shops across the country who teach students their curriculum and certify them as scuba divers.  All the instructors have completed an extensive PADI program in order to teach others.

Log onto their website at www.padi.com, and you'll be able to do a search for a local dive shop or dive resort.  They offer Discover Scuba classes (usually free) to "test the water".  The Open Water Diver course is the one that certifies you to dive to 60 feet.

The course will be pretty much the same at whatever dive shop you choose, so make sure you are comfortable with the staff and shop before you pick which one to go with.

  2. You should start by looking for a scuba shop located near you. They could probably help you out, good luck!

  3. the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI): www.padi.com

  4. Depending your state, country and diving agency.

    SSI (Scuba Schools International)

In their site you can find places that teach near your area.

    Padi

Another option I think you can check their site for places that teach near your area.

  5. I would start by looking in the yellow pages Good Luck!
