  1. Another option, good for all of Europe, is the English pages of the Rail Europe site:

  2. Most of the European rail companies speak English, their websites and at the ticket offices.

Traveling in August is rather close by, so you will have to pay standard fare in most occasions, but if you are willing to play around with times and dates you might be lucky, and get a 70 Euro discount or something like that.

The German rail site in English is always a good one to start looking, but you can also google for the Czech or Hungarian railways. (Or use the Austrian one: http://fahrplan.oebb.at/bin/oebb.w02/que...

In the region and also recommended by users.)

If you use the site the other answer mentions, compare prices with the sites I mention. I have been told that it is one of the ones that make a profit of sales, but I am not sure about that. It may also be that they just sell standard price tickets where the other sites also sell the specially cheap ones.
