Where can I but a hamster(Not gerbil)?

Question

I really want a hamster but I don't know where to find one.

I live in CA and so I need a shop that in CA.

And where an I buy cheap stuff for the hamster?

Try Petsmart. They have a huge Wall of Hamsters, Rats, and Guinea Pigs. And next to that is the aisle that sells cages, food, suppies, and toys.

Do you have petco there, petco is usually really cheap on prices for hamsters and cages!

The best place is a pet store. Plus you can usually get pet supplies at a Humane Society thrift store.

But they usually like paper towel rolls without the paper towels of course and they like to have a dark place to hide and sleep. I have also found some great toys for other pets at the Goodwill and any other second hand store for real cheap.

Opt to adopt. Check out http://www.petfinder.com On the left hand side, choose "small and furry" in the first box. In the box underneath that, type in hamster. Then, put your zip code in, and search away.

You can also look for local hamster breeders or check out http://www.craigslist.com for someone who has a little of hamsters. If you can't find any, it looks like a pet store is your only option.

The thing about pet stores is that they get their animals from mills. Their small animals are bred in mass quantities. Health and temperament isn't a concern. All they're really worried about is money. It's a disgusting business that we shouldn't really support. I suppose the only good thing that comes from a pet store is that they readily have animals available, and they tend to have a large variety. I got my gerbils from a pet store. I love them to pieces, but I wish I could have gone with a responsible breeder.

As for cheap stuff, I would recommend you search local classifieds for second-hand hamster supplies. However, I don't really find the price of hamster supplies all that expensive if you search around and find the lowest price. Just keep looking. Good luck!

Is you have petco or petsmart there    that where I got mine, i suggest petsmart because some of petco's hamsters have wettail and they can die, these stores have some what low prices but it is high quality supplies!
