Where can I buy +0.5 strength over-the-counter reading glasses?

I've checked CVS and have called all the major optometrists around here, like Pearle Vision, Hour Eyes, LensCrafters, etc., and the lowest strength they have is +1.00. My next question is, if I can't buy mine over the counter, where is the most reasonably-priced place to buy prescription glasses? There are various promotions, some places have a complete pair for $99...but does anyone knwo of a better deal than that? I hate that I have to get an expensive Rx pair just b/c my strength is not common. Thanks!

  1. Unfortunately OTC's are startin gat the +1.00 and then go from there. You would have to have them make them for you. Sorry!

  2. Pre-made readers start at +1.00. You will have to have a prescription and have them made at an optical center.

  3. You can purchase them online.  Here is one from Ebay.

You may also want to try various eyeglass places online for them as well.

  4. I don't know who has the lowest price on prescription glasses since my insurance pays for mine. About your strength not being common, mine must not be. Once I was farsighted, no problem seeing far off or reading with the same pair. Now I'm nearsighted, I can have a pair made for seeing far off, or seeing close up (for reading, ect.), and can't get bofocals. Don't know why. I hate the idea of switching back & forth. Have you tried looking in Wal-Mart ? Someone could have the approximate strength you need.

    Hope this helps.
