If you cook Brazilian cuisine, what are good substitutes that I can get a mainstream grocery store (Albertson's, Kroger, etc).

  1. I would try a store that specializes in Puerto Rican foods all those mentioned are staples in there diet, the farofa as Sarah has said is known in Brazilian as Manioc flour or Cassava meal or flour, they make puddings and a meal time side with it and breads.

  2. Feijoada is a lengthy dish to make but if you dont feel like cooking, visit a Brazilian restaurants. You are so lucky to have so many great Brazilian restaurants right in town!  I have been to most of these and they are all delicious:

  3. Black beans dried or canned can be bought at any grocery store. As for the rice I have always just used long grain white rice for Brazilian rice.  As to the manioc flour to make the farofa again most mainstream stores in Texas should carry it.  You might as a last resort try http://www.amigofoods.com/brazilianfood....
