Where can I buy German License Plates?

Question

I am looking to buy a license plate from Augsburg Germany but I can't seem to find any. Could any one point me in the right direction? It's for a VW.

Please Help!!

Hi! I'm German in Germany. Of course it would be the easiest to get them over here, but I saw you can get them on eBay:

You mean one that you'll actually be allowed to drive through Germany with? That means registring your car with the local Straßenverkehrsamt, where you also get the plate.

If you just want it as a souvenir, most German sign makers can just print them for you with a combination of letters and numbers of your choosing. If you don't have anyone in Germany who can arrange this for you, I think that, as ever, ebay is your best bet - you may just have to drill the wholes in the plate later in the spots where they fit your VW.
