Question:

Where can I buy Kangaroo Burgers?

To celebrate the exact day that my girlfriend and I landed in Australia last year for the start of a brilliant 6 weeks I want to cook her an Australian style meal and have a subtle Aussie themed night. I want to surprise her. Any other ideas that you can think of would be brilliant. DVDs? Foods? anything else?

And if you know where I can source some Roo Burgars in the U.K that would be great too!

Thank you.

that's just a few, google Australian films or movies for more!

you could always play some Aussie music, like powder finger or silver chair there's heaps of good Aussie music around!

i don't know were your going to find a roo burger, but maybe you could sit down to a dinky di meat pie or even a BBQ! with a pavlova or triffle for desert!

you might even be able to track down some Aussie beer to have with your dinner!

  2. Haha, NOONE eats Kangaroo in Australia, so that's not a very australian meal.. but you can get them from woolworths in the dog food section :S

  3. I don't think your able to buy Roo burgers in the U.K cos i think they banned it from being sold. However, you could give your girlfriend a normal burger and just say it's made out of kangaroo meat (you can tell her what it really is later or just not tell her at all) or just get a normal burger and draw the shape of a kangaroo over the top with a ketchup bottle. I used to do that on meat pies! speaking of meat pies, according to Australian stereotypes Australians love eating meat pies, vegemite (you should combine vegemite and butter on toast cos if you don't it could be very, very salty) and barbeques. Tim Tams which i have just recently discovered are only sold in Australia and Lamingtons, Anzac biscuits and the breakfast cereal: Weetbix tastes good aswell!

Happy feet is Australian so you could watch that and Finding Nemo is set in Australia. I've watched Finding Nemo 12 times and i'm still not sick of it. XD

  4. McSkippy do a quarter pounder......

Sorry mate - no idea - you'll probably find it's banned because of animal rights.

  5. sorry, i dont know if you can order roo burgers. you may be able to, but everywhere i looked on the internet, i couldnt find a place. i dont know why people are saying that no one eats kangaroo in australia because they sure are wrong. many people eat it and it isnt that bad. good luck with everything :]

  6. dont know if you can buy kangaroo meat. and just make the day an australian theme and make it romantic aswell by putting up loads of candles around.

  7. hello, I'm not sure where or whether you can buy roo burgers or even roo meat. I suggest you ring up some specialty delicatessans or butchers and ask around, they might be able to direct you to a place that does sell them. If you can only find roo meat, thats ok, you can make your own patties. My pop makes these for our family, absolutely beautiful!

    1 kg kangaroo mincemeat

    2 large eggs

    1 cup breadcrumbs

1 tablespoon garlic, crushed(less if desired)

1 large brown onion, finely diced

    1/4 cup worcestershire sauce

    1/4 cup tomato sauce(or ketchup)

    12 drops Tabasco sauce (optional)

    2 teaspoons dried thyme

    1 teaspoon dried oregano

    1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

    1 large carrot, grated

    Directions

first you mix all the ingredients together in large bowl (if it's too crumnly for your liking add another egg)

2 Form into burgers and cook on medium well oiled BBQ until cooked through, turning several times. It is a fairly crumbly / low-fat burger so turn over carefully.

if you can't find roo, never fear!! It's not overly common to eat roo meat here, yeah a lot do but I'd suggest seafood! we loooove our seafood! make some scallop kababs (mmmm) and bbq some fish and prawns (shrimp) and make a salad to go with it. Our family always do this, we love it! I'd suggest grab a couple of aussie beers or some australian made wine if thats more your style to go with the meal.

    and ENJOY!

  8. EWWWW thats disgusting....

  9. You can buy Kangaroo meat and consume it.  The only problem, it's very bland and tasteless.  However, it is one of the lowest cholesterol red meats available.

Just have a normal BBQ with beer and wine.  DVDs?  Here's some suggestions.

Muriel's Wedding, The Wogboy, Idiot Box, The Castle, The Dish, They're a Weird Mob, Dad & Dave on our selection.

Video Ezy have a large Australian section.

    Have fun.

  10. Never heard of them, never eaten kangaroo meat and don't know anyone who has. Throw a shrimp on the barbie buy a  slab and checkout video store for Oz movies.
