  1. What "gear" do you want?  Most of it is stuff that can be bought anywhere: a laptop, broadband wireless card, DC power inverter, CB radio.  If you want something more exotic like a Kestrel handheld anemometer/hygrometer/thermometer, I'd buy it online.
