Where can I buy a Cheap Go game board or Goban?

Question

I want to buy a game board for the board game Go. I dont want it to be so cheap that it isnt very good quality. And keep it wooden, no plastic please. Anybody know where I can find one. Anywhere in Bakersfield,CA or LA is find. Would China Town have them? Online is fine too. Thanks

Yes, Chinatown would be a good place to start and most likely you will find what you are looking for there.  If not, try ebay and amazon.com.  You will find just about anything you want at either of those sites.

You can also try comic book stores and hobby shops. If you don't know of one near you, just check the phone book.

Then you should check out your local go club, and ask them where they got their boards. Go clubs are also good for the practice with real people, at any rate. You can find a local one here:

If all those places fail you, buy online. I wouldn't recommend it, unless you have no other choice. The shipping costs can be pretty bad, and it's not easy finding a good quality board cheeply that way. It's also better to be able to see the board before you buy it. I got my goban at Yellow Mountain Imports (www.ymimports.com). They may not be all that cheap, but they definitely have quality going for them. ^^
