I wanted to buy a baby chick, but I only want one. Most places have a minimum of 25, and I cannot handle that many. I don't mind ordering them online either.

  1. Most states have minimums on the number of baby fowl that can be sold at one time. There are reasons for the minimums. They don't do well when there is only one. They are flock animals. Every hatchery that I have ever seen has a minimum of the number of chicks that they will ship. The reason is they need them to be packed in a box so they keep each other warm. If they only send four or five they won't be able to keep each other warm.

  2. hmmm, you could look at craigslist or the pennysaver.

  3. Go to a school and ask them for one...I got mine from Friends School...they gave it to me for free

  4. you should have at least 3 or they might get depressed and die....

  5. Look on the website "backyardchickens". It is an awesome website that has helped me alot with my chickens. They have a forum that has a thread on chickens for sale ( it is not named that but that is what it is). You may find someone in md on that site, or someone that has a site to buy them online.
