My son is sick of sandwiches but I hate packing him cold left overs. I've tried packing hot food but it get's cold by the time he gets to eat it. I've been trying to find something to keep his lunch warm. I've looked at Target, Walmart, Kmart & have found nothing. I also don't want anything that's made out of plastic since it's toxic.

  1. I fill a regular thermos with very hot boiling water for about 5 min. Then I dump it out, and immediately put the child's food inside (usually mac and cheese!)

This helps, and I'm told the food is still warm at lunchtime!  Do this of course, in the morning, right before your son leaves.

  2. I tried thermoses for my kids but if they were tight enough to work my kids couldn't get them open, because they were really designed for people with bigger hands.  Most people get around this by buying hot lunch at school, We can't because of allergies, so I either send cold stuff (sandwiches, pasta salads, cereal and a milk box, leftovers like chicken that taste good cold) or I heat something in the microwave and immediately put it in a covered tupperware inside their thermally lined lunchboxes.  It's not hot when they eat it, but it's not totally lukewarm or cold, either.  They're satisfied with the compromise.

  3. I found thermoses at Target.  They're back by the camping section.  Ask an associate to point the way for you.

My son has one that he loves, with a 'secret spoon' hidden away in a compartment in the lid.

  4. I get stuff from Wal mart for my lil cousins... try cheching again. there are metal containers for like soups and drinks!!!

  5. Get a thermal stainless steel lunch container.

  6. There is nothing that will keep his lunch hot safely that is portable for a kid (there are metal thermos' for adults, but really not portable for a kid).  Don't have a suggestion.  We made do with sandwiches every single day for school. That's just what was for lunch plus a fruit and some peanut butter on celery sticks.

  7. i believe you shpould get them at wal mart
