I am a freshman in high school and I'm in concert and marching band. I am getting more serious about playing in band so I've been thinking about buying my own. Does anyone know where I can buy a new, decent bari?

I will probably end up marching with it so it can't be a heavy concert bari.

  1. A great place to buy instruments is www.musiciansfriend.com or www.wwbw.com both have good prices. Also, there is this place in Ohio called "The Junk Dude". It's a sax store with really good prices on great saxes.  And believe me, none of the stuff there is junk, just used. The website is www.junkdude.com

  2. go to a local music store: they'll have lots of choices, both new, like-new, and used, and helpful people to help weigh your choices. Plus, you can try them out (unlike websites), and see how heavy they are.

I agree with the other poster though: if you are marching with the horn, I would use one that belongs to the school, especially while you are first learning to march: there is just so much that can go wrong with weather, other people, you, and when you put your horn down.

okay with the update, I don't blame you for wanting to use yours. I would probably not go with a brand new one though. It won't be new for long anyway.

  3. Check here:

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?i...

    You can find it.

    Good luck!

  4. I strongly suggest you march with the school's bari if they have one (why mess up your personal instrument?)

try wwbw.com for good prices on instruments, you don't have to buy from them-but it gives you a great idea what sort of deal you can get.
