Question:

Where can I buy a fire alarm drafting stencil?

I am trying to do some detail and critique work for a fire alarm system. I used to have a stencil that you could overlay on the blueprint and draw in your own as-built changes to the print. That way you can send them back to the CAD operator and they can update the CAD file in the office. The one I had was made by Wheelock. However, checking wheelock's website there is nothing about stencils.

The stencil had the different symbols on it for speaker/horn strobes, pull stations, etc and also the relative candela for strobes (scaled so you can overlay the stencil to ensure you are in compliance).

If anybody knows where I can obtain this particular stencil that would be greatly appreciated.

  1. I would call the item a "drafting template" or "drawing template." Try searching with those terms. If you can't find the one you want, a general electrical template might have some of the symbols you need. If the one that you like is no longer made, you might try eBay. Pretty much everything turns up there sooner or later. You might call Wheelock. The item was probably custom made for them for internal use and/or as a marketing promotional item. They may not offer them for sale, but the right person might give you one.
