Question:

Where can I buy a lens cap for a Canon SLR

My son has a Canon EOS 400D SLR camera. He got the 18-55mm lens with it. He was recently on a camping trip and has come back without the cap for the lens. I am worried the lens with get scratched if we don't buy a new cap. Although we've looked in quite a few shops, we can't find any. Any there any online shops that would sell them?

Thank you.

  1. First, do you have a UV filter on the lens ... this is the first defense against lens damage.  Most camera shops that sell Canon DSLR's have lens caps in stock ... If you are there buying a UV filter I am sure they can help you ... it may be a 55 mm generic cap, but better than nothing.

  2. I'm assuming the lens has a 58mm filter thread. Look on the front of the lens and it should have a 0 with a slash through it and then a number.

If it says 58, this is the cap for you. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_p?url=...

  3. You should be able to find them at any camera store. By camera store I mean a camera store, not a big electronics store.

If you can't find it in any stores then you can certainly find them on ebay for a few bucks - just make sure to get the right size for the lens.
