I know they make these as I saw one on TV but I can't seem to find any online..... I'd like to purchase some for my home appliances so I can turn off the things I am not using and save energy. Does anyone know of any online stores that sell these?

  1. This is the only one I could find, and it's kind of bulky :|

  2. The other guys  here have already provided an answer similar to what I would have said, however these (and a powerbar with a bunch of switches) sounds quite bulky for your needs. Just to clarify though; those units DO have a switch for each outlet so they would do what you looking for.

Another option might be to install a wireless module on the powercord of each appliance you want to control.  These can then be controlled via remote control or even through the powerline itself.

These have been sold under the brand names of X10, Powerlinc and many others. Cost is somewhat expensive but it's amazing what you can do with them.. home automation is within reach with that stuff.

Sorry wanted to use a different profile, so you'd get the email of another answer, instead of me editing mine.  Hope this works!
