  1. I've seen Master Card gift cards at convenience stores and truck stops

  2. The best way to travel today, especially in countries which have different currencies than the US dollar is to put enough cash into your checking, then request a ATM card and as you arrive in a particular country withdraw local currency as needed.

But be sure to have a bank or broker account that reimburses the ATM fees. I travel with a Charles Schwab Visa card (Schwab now has a bank as well as an investment company, so you don't need a fancy broker account).

Don't ever use a credit card, unless you spend money you have not earned yet, because Visa and MC charge a 2% fee for currency exchange.

    Bad deal.

  3. Money Mart sells them. You can use them anywhere a regular Master Card is accepted.

  4. I got a Visa Gift card at the Pharma Plus Drug Store. There is a purchase fee when you use it so it is good for whatever amount you purchase less the purchase fee. I have not used it yet but the literature that came with it indicates that I can use it for anything. It is issued by the Citizen's Bank of Canada and has a website - https://www.mybalance.ca/index.cfm

    Hope that helps
