I know it is expensive buying a real flight simulator, does anybody know where can I buy a flight simulator for the 737NG?

  1. First of all, if you are talking about a full motion simulator, "expensive" is an understatement.  Most simulators approach the cost of the airplane itself.  Depending on the level of certification, you're looking at anywhere from about $5 million to $30 million.

If you are still interested after knowing that, you would probably have to go directly to the simulator manufacturers.  Being the 737NG, airlines aren't retiring them so they aren't selling their simulators either.  CAE and Thales are the first companies that come to mind.  FlightSafety International builds their own simulators.  I don't believe they sell them for use outside of their company, but I don't know that for sure.  Frasca builds lower cost simulators, but I don't think they've developed anything for 737NGs.

Edit: I should have asked for some clarification for the purpose of the simulator.  The answer above is for a Level D simulator for conducting pilot training for a type rating.

  2. Coffeebuzz is on the right track, I guess the only thing I would ask is are you training yourself or do you want to start a company for training pilots for the 737NG?

If it is for you, just go to SimuFlite or Flight Safety and get the training for thousands of dollars versus spending millions on a simulator.

If you are trying to start your own company, good luck because SimuFlite and Flight Safety are way out in front right now as far as providing world-wide training.

  3. There is one in a shopping mall in Wellington NZ which is also open to the public $120NZD for a half hour flight. Well it was a couple of years ago when we sent dad there for a "flight". At the time we were told there was interest from some of the airlines in "buying them".

    Try a google search on www.flight experience.co.nz

  4. Try the site (a) mentioned below, or you can build a simple one at home by buying equipment from site (b)...
