  1. Try craigslist.org. Sometimes you can get used stuff for great deals.

  2. Check the classifieds in the newspaper, as well as snooping around ebay and other sites.

Also, look into your local music store. They tend to have good financing on instruments that you can be sure of, whereas buying directly from a random person can sometimes be iffy.

Also, what kind of trumpet are you looking for? Something for a beginner, a step-up, or a professional horn? Factors like that can affect where you should look. Make SURE you know your specs...get the right horn at the right price for what you want. You don't want to pay more than a few hundred for a student trumpet, never more than 1k for a step-up, and generally no more than 3k for a pro-line horn.

  3. Hi John,

I will advise you to look for a used Yamaha intermediate trumpet.   They will be cheaper and play better and more consistent than the Bach Strad trumpets that have been little more than junk for about the last 15 years.   According to one of my professional trumpet player friends out of California...  note for note, Yamaha out plays the newer Bach Strads hands down.  You would have to go back 20 years to get a great one.

You could also think about a King Silver Flair or Silver Sonic / Benge / or Shilke brand trumpets.  (Used)

And if you are wanting something affordable... Craig's list.org in your city or eBay has been suggested.  Of the two,  you will find a bigger selection on eBay.  If you don't find what you want today... just wait a few hours and others will be listed.  Just be careful - ask the seller questions - and check the seller's feedbacks to see he has many many happy customers.

Hope this is helpful.  and Best wishes for your finding a nice trumpet.

My bet is on the Yamaha :))

  4. Used music stores, ebay, idk
