I live at the other end of the country, in Southland, and I grow globe artichokes in my garden. They are in season all year round. If you email me your postal address, I can send you some. I can send you some roots too, so you can grow your own. They grow well here, so they should do even better in Auckland. I pickle the artichoke hearts but they are delicious served hot with butter.

woolworths. they are not freash ones but there are "instore deli delmaine artichokes marinated whole" in some woolworths stores. it is avaliable from online. if you do find out please tell me, i miss the taste of freash sicilian artichokes off the fire with oil, yummy!

the best place is ZARBO'S in new market i used to work there and they have REALLY good ones in the deli - enjoy!
