Go to a produce store or farmers market – buy the pepper you want to grow – cut it in half – remove the seeds - let the seeds dry – store in a cool dry place until next spring and then plant.

Voilà, your favorite peppers.

I have recently had luck keeping seeds from veggies damp between two clothes and in an area where there's no air flow until they grow roots then planting them. I got several squash this year that way.
