Where can I buy organic produce in ontario, canada?

I would prefer well-priced local produce if available especially when buying in bulk. I prefer them to be located in the GTA and Toronto area. Please give me your experience/comments on the place if possible. I prefer if you listed places like farms, farmer's markets, or even regular supermarkes (good prices, quality and locally grown which is rare!) Thanks

  1. Hi,

    Here's a quick list:

There is Whole Foods which has a location downtown and in Oakville.

    Fortinos has a good selection.

St Lawrence Market which is right downtown on the water front.

Essence of Life has two locations:  one at Warden at Lawrence

There's one possibly called Fresh and Wild again downtown at King/Adelaide and Spadina

There are also some CSA's or Community Support Agriculture farms in the surrounding country-side, for instance Whole Village about an hour from Toronto.

For organic meat, there's a butcher on Queen Street, west of Spadina...not sure how far...on the south side.

and, Baretta Farms does organic meat and may deliver

Good luck and hope that helps.

    Cheers,

PS  oh, ...I've been to several of these as my commuting would allow.  Organic is generally a little or a lot more expensive depending on the item but on the whole we've enjoyed it and prefer it and continue to seek it out....though we've moved from Toronto now.
