sometimes you can see a snap on tool truck going around the neighborhood, they see tools off the truck.

E-bay Pawn Shops Flea markets and the best place is the red and white Snap-On tool truck.

your local auto shop should sell them, (Auto barn, Autopro etc) if not a hardware shop,

Ebay or other internet sites should sell them aswell

As far as brand new tools, I'm pretty sure you still have to go through your local distributor. (the guy in the van) Highly unlikely you would find them at any auto parts store, hardware store, and especially Sears. They sell Craftsman.

As far as used, eBay, Pawn shops occasionally, and your local Trader publications are usually a good bet, especially if you live in a Metro area. The nice thing there, is that you can see them before you buy, and no massive shipping fees to send heavy tools across the country.
